Commodores go 2-1 in Florida

The Perry County Central Commodores traveled to Florida over the break to participate in the Great Florida Shootout in Orlando. The Commodores won their first game, and spilt the remainder, giving them a 2-1 record in the tournament.

The Commodores won their first game 73-65 over Poinciana. Perry Central broke the game open with a 26-point second period. From there they were able to coast to the win.

Perry Central (73) Braxton Beverly 10, Jon Smith 3, Kyle Huff 8, Jaysean Paige 32 and Dalton Cornett 20.

Poinciana (65) Nicholson 9, Greene 8, Jean-Pierre 11, Flood 4 and Moody 43.

Perry Central got out of the gates slow in game two against Peachtree Ridge, and fell behind 17-8. The Commodore went down 32-19 at the half, but out played their opponent in the second half. Unfortunately, this would not be enough to pull off the comeback.

Perry Central (62) Austin Pray 2, Jaysean Paige 19, Braxton Beverly 12, Jon Smith 6, Kyle Huff 10, Trevor Combs 5 and Dalton Cornett 8.

Peachtree Ridge (68) Hill 16, Johnson 8, Rivers 5, Romaguera 6, McGowen 2, Okivie 17, Jack 12 and Efezohkoe 2.

The Commodores got right in their third game as they took on Osceda. Perry Central jumped out to the 20-3 lead in the first, and led 35-20 at the half. The Commodores cruised to the 76-40 win, giving them the 2-1 record in the tournament.

Osceda (40) Forde 6, Allard 6, Sanchez 10, Cox 1, Maldoraldo 2, Phillips 2, Turk 6 and Antoine 7.
