Sunscreen samples, educational information will be available
TAMPA, Fla. (July 26, 2012) ? Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States. One in five people will be diagnosed with the disease in their lifetime. The American Cancer Society estimates more than 5,400 Floridians will be diagnosed with melanoma, the most serious type of skin cancer, this year. Prevention and regular screenings are the best way to reduce your risk of developing this disease.
Moffitt Cancer Center?s Mole Patrol? will offer free skin screenings from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 11 at the Clearwater Beach Pier 60 Pavilion. Stop by and get screened by one of Moffitt?s trained professionals.
Oncologists, dermatologists, nurse practitioners and physician assistants assisted by registered nurses will perform the free skin cancer evaluations. If screeners find a suspicious lesion, they will recommend a follow-up appointment with a specialist of your choice.
Sunscreen samples, as well as educational information, will be available.
